Frozen dog treats are a great way to help your pup beat the heat when the temperatures climb. I make them year round for an after exercise snack or just to feed as an alternative to traditional biscuit treats. These tasty watermelon dog treats can be prepared in just a few minutes, and they’re sure to tempt your canine companion.
All you have to do is fill your food processor with watermelon. Add 1/2 cup of coconut milk and puree.
As you’ll see in my video guide, I used cute silicone pig molds to make my dog treats. You can use any silicone molds that you have on hand or an ice cube tray.
Fill the molds with the yogurt mixture until they’re about 3/4 full. You’ll want to leave room as the treats will expand slightly when they freeze.
You could use small pieces of dog-friendly fruit to add some texture to these treats. Apples, blueberries, bananas or carrots would be great additions. Just put a few small pieces of fruit or vegetable in each treat.
Freeze the treats until hardened. You can serve them to your dog as soon as they’re frozen.
