Finding the right grooming products for dogs with sensitive skin can be a challenge. It's especially difficult if your dog suffers from dermatitis or other common skin conditions. VetriMAX dog shampoo and lotion is specifically formulated to fight infections and treat bacteria, yeast, pyoderma, pruritus, and chronic odor.
Oftentimes, pet owners are not educated about the importance of choosing the right grooming products for their dogs. Using human shampoo on your dog's coat can leave the coat dull and Fido's skin extremely dry. Human shampoos are not formulated for the pH of a dog’s skin.
Most commercial dog shampoos are made with toxic chemicals, artificial dyes, and fake fragrances that actually do more harm than good. These products will not only dry out the skin and coat, but they can also leech into your dog’s body through his skin. Over time, these chemicals can lead to the development of many serious health conditions, like cancer.
Dogs with sensitive skin are especially hard to shop for. It's difficult to find a shampoo that is strong enough to treat tough skin issues, yet gentle enough to be safe for everyday use.
Finding a medicated dog shampoo can be even more of a challenge. Many medicated shampoos are only sold with a prescription, and they are very expensive. Over-the-counter medicated shampoos tend to use harsh chemicals to dry out the skin and clear up the infection. This only leads to more problems in the long run.
VetriMAX Shampoo is different than any other medicated shampoo that I've ever seen on the market. When I learned more about the product and how it is formulated, I assumed that it must only be available with a prescription. Actually, it's available through Amazon and other online retailers!

VetriMAX Dog Shampoo and Lotion for Skin Conditions Review
VetriMAX Command Shampoo for Dogs
VetriMAX says that this is the first veterinary shampoo formulated with sodium hypochlorite (a diluted bleach) and salicylic acid. Salicyclic acid is a compound that “works by increasing the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolving the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together,” according to WebMD.
Studies have shown that dilute bleach baths have been effective at reducing the symptoms of atopic dermatitis. There have been many clinical tests performed on this VetriMAX dog shampoo, and they have proven that this shampoo is strong enough to fight infections and gentle enough to be used as an everyday maintenance shampoo.
You can find more information on the clinical trials and read lots of customer testimonials on the company's website.
VetriMAX dog shampoo has been proven to be effective in treating:
- yeast
- bacterial infections
- pruritus
- pyoderma
- recurrent odor
As you'll see in my video review, I used this shampoo on our dogs multiple times. While I cannot vouch for its ability to clear up infections, I can say that it always leaves its coat shiny and soft. I was surprised that a medicated shampoo was so good for their coat!
In my video, you will also notice how well this shampoo lathers. It rinses cleanly and easily. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the results of using VetriMAX dog shampoo for regular grooming maintenance.
This is an antimicrobial shampoo that does not contain any fragrances or dyes. This makes it a great option for dogs with sensitive skin as well. I hate shampoos that leave a strong perfume smell behind, so I was pleased with the mild odor of this product.

VetriMAX AtopiCream Leave-On Lotions
These lotions are rich in ceramides, a family of waxy lipid molecules. They work as an essential fatty acid barrier to repair and heal the skin. This lotion is available in a cortico-steroid or anti-histamine formula.
Both formulas are made with a base containing essential fatty acids, Vitamin E, aloe vera conjugated linoleic acid, and a ceramide complex. Ceramides are a key component of this formula, because they keep out things like allergens, bacteria, and yeast while keeping in beneficial things like water.
These lotions can be effective in treating:
- allergic skin reactions
- skin irritation
- symptoms of pruritis
- dry skin
- hot spots
- self-induced skin peeling and irritation
The AtopiCream HC contains 1% hydrocortisone. It functions as a re-hydrating lotion with unique anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains a ceramide complex that aids in the regeneration of healthy skin.
In my video review at the top of this page, you'll see that I used this lotion on a hot spot that my Labrador had next to her ear. After just two days of using the lotion as recommended, the redness and irritation were gone. I continued to use the lotion for another day, and the spot was completely gone. The hair had even started to grow back!

These products are definitely effective, but they are also more expensive than the low-quality dog grooming products you can find in big box stores. At the time of this review, the VetriMAX dog shampoo can be purchased in a 4-ounce or 12-ounce bottle on Amazon. They sell for $12.55 and $23.96 respectively.
VetriMAX AtopiCream Leave-On Lotion is available in an 8-ounce bottle for $17.20. The AtopiCream HC Leave-On Lotion also comes in an 8-ounce bottle and retails for $29.90 on Amazon.
As I said, I know these prices seem expensive. But, when you compare them to the prices of prescription treatments, I think these prices are quite reasonable. It's difficult to compare them with similar products since VetriMAX dog shampoo and lotions are made with a unique formula.
