Keeping your dog restrained in the car is crucial for his safety and the safety of all passengers in your vehicle. While most consumers found this to be one of the best options on the market, some were not completely satisfied with the product. Now, I’ve tested this dog car harness myself. Here are my thoughts…

Sleepypod ClickIt Terrain Harness Review
As I mentioned, this harness is designed specifically for active, high-performing dogs. If you're looking for a crash-tested, durable car harness for your average or sedentary dog, check out the Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness, which offers many of the same features with a simpler design.
This harness features the same infinity loop design as the Clickit Sport Harness, which eliminates any weak points when force is applied to the harness (like in a crash). The Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Harness also has a broad padded vest (that you can see in the photo above), and sleeves made of shock-absorbing webbing.
The harness is specifically engineered so all of the features mentioned above work together to reduce and distribute force caused by an accident.
I was impressed that this harness can also be used as an everyday walking harness. Many car harnesses are more rigid and wouldn't be comfortable for all-day wear. Sleepypod clearly understands that it is inconvenient for owners to have to switch their dog from a car harness to a walking harness. With this one, you get the convenience of being able to walk your dog and then load him directly into the vehicle.
The vest is made of luggage-grade, ballistic nylon, and the straps are made of automotive-grade material. There are also reflective patches (seen in the photo on the left) on each side that can be interchanged with working dog patches.
The Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Harness is crash tested to ensure your dog’s safety while riding in the vehicle. They are tested using the same 30 mph dynamic crash test that is used for child safety seats. These harnesses are tested using U.S. and Canadian child restraint system standards.
These harnesses are also very easy to clean, which is a must for most dog owners. The outside can be easily wiped down with a damp cloth, and all you have to do to remove shed hair from the padded chest plate is give it a quick vacuum.

In my video review, I demonstrate how easy it is to put this harness on your dog and restrain him in the vehicle. The Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Harness is a step-in harness, which means that you need your dog to step his paws into the armholes of the harness, then you must wrap it up and around his chest and then securely buckle it over his back.
This harness is difficult to adjust the first time, but the good news is that it stays in place once you get it adjusted properly. Unless your dog gains or loses weight, you shouldn’t have to readjust the harness. However, you should still check to make sure that it is properly adjusted every time you put it on your pup.
Once it’s properly adjusted, the Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Harness is a breeze to secure in your vehicle. You just have to pull out your seat belt and thread it through both sides of the infinity loop design on your dog’s back. Then just buckle and tighten the belt, and your dog is ready to ride!
This harness is more expensive than traditional walking harnesses, but that is expected due to the superior quality and engineered design. A harness that is crash tested and made of ballistic grade nylon is surely going to be more expensive than a traditional harness.
Depending on the size that your dog needs, you can purchase the Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Harness on Amazon for $89.99-$99.99. While it is much more expensive than a traditional walking harness, I think this product offers a good value for the money spent.
Terrain Pack (Optional)

As you'll see in my video review, Sleepypod also offers a Terrain Pack as an optional add-on for this harness. As you will see, the pack is basically a set of saddlebags that clip securely to the harness to allow your Fido to carry his own supplies on hikes or other outdoor adventures.
It is ergonomically designed and water-repellent. The pack also features removable reflective patches, and the patches can be interchanged with working dog patches.
The Terrain Pack is made of luggage-grade ballistic nylon, so it's extremely durable. There are 4 different sizes to match the size of the harness that your dog needs. All sizes retail for $89.99 on Amazon.
It is quite expensive for a doggy backpack, but you do get the added convenience of being able to attach and detach it from your dog's harness – no need to switch harnesses when you go on a trek. However, this is only an option, so if you're looking to cut costs, I would recommend holding off on the Terrain Pack.
