Automatic feeders are the easiest way to keep your pup on a regular feeding schedule. They can be especially beneficial for dogs with medical issues that require a scheduled diet. Automatic feeders are also ideal for pups on a diet that needs strict portion control. The SKYMEE Automatic Pet Feeder is one of the newest options on the market.
There are a few things you'll need to consider before choosing the right automatic feeder for your dog. For starters, there are many different sizes of pet feeders. Think about your dog's size and how much food he eats at every serving. This will be important when choosing a feeder that will meet his needs.
Another variable that will affect your choice is the number of meals Fido eats every day. Every automatic feeder model is different – some only serve 2 or 3 meals per day, while others can feed 10 or more meals every day.
Most automatic pet feeders only dispense dry kibble. If your dog needs wet food or eats a raw or homemade diet, you'll have a very limited number of automatic feeders to choose from.
The SKYMEE Automatic Pet Feeder only dispenses dry kibble, so it won't be an option for dogs that eat moist food. It offers a few unique features, though, and can be controlled very easily through a free smartphone app.

SKYMEE Automatic Pet Feeder Review
It can be challenging to find automatic feeders that are suitable for large breeds. The SKYMEE automatic pet feeder can hold up to 2 gallons (32 cups) of food! That would feed even the largest breed for at least a few days before you'd have to refill it.
As I show you in my video review, there is a rubber sealing ring around the top of the feeder. It also features a double seal design to keep kibble fresh, which you can see in the photo below.
The feeder has a locking system that requires you to pinch the sides of the latch together in order to lift the lid. This prevents overeaters from helping themselves while you're away.
The rotating blade feeding system allows you to set customized portions to be released on a timed schedule. You can feed between 1/8 and 2 cups per serving, and there does not seem to be a limit on how many meals can be scheduled per day. This is a benefit over some other automatic feeders that only serve small portions or can only serve 2-4 meals per day.
The best thing about the SKYMEE Automatic Pet Feeder is that it is a pet camera and feeder in one! It features a 1080p HD camera with night vision and a 130˚ wide angle lens with 4x zoom. You also have the option to take photos and videos through the app to share on social media or send to family and friends.
Speaking of family and friends, the app will allow up to 8 people to access your SKYMEE Automatic Pet Feeder at the same time. That means your entire family could interact with your pup all together, which isn't an option you'll find on other comparable products.
I also like the 2-way audio feature, which you usually don't see on automatic feeders. It allows you to hear what is going on in your home and/or send your dog audio messages when he's alone during the day.
As I demonstrate in my video review, the speaker is on the bottom of the feeder, which muffles the sound. It isn't as loud as I would like, but your dog can still hear the sounds. The SKYMEE feeder also makes a sound before releasing kibble to alert your dog that his meal is ready.
The app will send notifications to your phone when the feeder is running low on kibble and when movement is sensed in your home. I also like the battery backup feature. This is an important feature to look for when shopping for an automatic feeder.
If the feeder you purchase doesn't have a battery backup, your dog will not get his meals if there is a power outage. The SKYMEE Automative Pet Feeder does require 3 D-size batteries.
This feeder retails for $129.99 on Amazon right now. I know that doesn't fit into everyone's budget and may seem quite expensive to you. However, if you compare the cost of this feeder with other similar products, you'll see that it is actually a very reasonable price.
