Friendship knows no boundaries—sometimes literally.
A brown shelter dog in Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) jumped over the wall that divides her and her best friend.
MACC's Madison Weissenborn was making rounds at the kennels when she was puzzled after seeing two dogs sharing a kennel.
Confused, they turned their attention to the shelter's security camera for answers.
The footage revealed Brenda, the brown pitbull, jumping over the wall to meet Linda, her white pitbull friend.
“We rewatched the video that we had, and I about died. I was like this is truly magnificent,” Ms. Weissenborn said.
Brenda arrived in MACC around the same time as Linda, where the shelter was near the maximum capacity.
Everyone in the shelter thinks the two are virtually inseparable and hopes they will be rehomed as a package.
But with the decrease in adoptions but a 20% increase in surrenders from 2022, their wishes are difficult to achieve.
“I would say the majority of our cases are due to housing. So either people moving away, moving into places that don't allow specific breeds,” Madison explained.
“We're seeing people experiencing homelessness that didn't before and are just in hard times.”
Luckily for the canine pair and the employees of MACC, everyone got the best outcome possible for the two dog friends.
