Seafood is packed with nutritional benefits for dogs, but it can also be dangerous if you don’t serve it properly. This recipe is made with shrimp and tuna fish, but you could use other types of seafood as well. Just be sure to research the ingredients you choose to make sure you are making seafood patties for dogs that are safe and healthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz. ground shrimp
  • 12 oz. canned tuna in oil
  • 1 mashed sweet potato
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric

Instructions

This recipe is extremely simple to make. All you have to do is combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. I form the food into patties that are portioned into 1/2 cup servings. I squish the patties between two pieces of wax paper and freeze them.

Once frozen, you can easily store them in an airtight bag or container. The recommended serving size is about 1/2 cup for every 20-25 pounds of body weight. You could freeze the patties in smaller/larger sizes depending on the appropriate serving size for your pup.

Keep in mind that this serving size is just a recommendation. More active dogs may need more calories, while lazier pets may not need as many. The best thing to do is to consult your veterinarian about the right serving for your dog. They will also guide you in adding any necessary supplements to make this meal nutritionally balanced for your pet.
