Briefly, in some cities and towns there are laws about burials on personal property. If it's illegal where you live or your homeowner's association forbids it, you may need to bury your pet in a designated pet cemetery or other public location. If this is the case, you will need to have a plan in place before your dog passes away.
If, like me, you live in a region where the ground freezes during winter months, it's likely that you may need to have a pet cremated. If this were to happen, you'd want to store the ashes in an attractive container until you could bury them when the ground thaws.

Paw Pod Dog Burial Pod Review
Burying your pet in a plastic or metal urn is not eco-friendly. Paw Pod Burial Bods are made of rice husk, corn starch and bamboo powder. They are completely eco-friendly and will degrade in 3-5 years after being buried.
Paw pods are very durable too. They can hold up to 200 pounds. In my video review above, I show you how solid these pet burial pods really are. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how strong a Paw Pod is.
You're probably wondering why these pods look so small.
The Paw Pod that I show in my review is a small, measuring 10.5″ long, 6.5″ wide and 4.5″ deep. There are smaller sizes available on the company's website, and the largest size measures 26” x 18” x 10,” which certainly isn't large enough for a big dog. Obviously, these pods are made to hold ashes and very small animals.
Unfortunately, that means that you'll have to pay for a cremation plus the cost of a Paw Pod in order to bury your dog. While some pet owners may need to cremate their pet anyway, others may prefer to bring the body home for burial. Not to mention, cremation costs may not fit in every dog owners' budget.

I love that every pod comes with a small leaf-shaped piece of material that is seeded with wildflowers. You can plant this small leaf on top of the burial site and every year there will be a wonderful, natural memorial to your beloved pet.
As I explain in my video review, my favorite feature of the Paw Pod is its ability to help families with children cope with the loss of their pet. These pods can be decorated with paint, markers, stickers, glitter glue and lots of other art supplies.
This is a unique feature that allows your children to express their sadness and grief by memorializing their beloved pet. If you have pets and children, you know how difficult it can be to explain the death of a dog to a young child.
When your dog passes away, there are a lot of expenses to plan for. If you're on a budget, a Paw Pod may not be a necessary expense. The small-sized pod that I share in my review sells for $40 on Amazon. The largest size costs $150, and you can also find smaller pods that sell for less.
Keep in mind that if you plan on using an urn or dog casket of some kind, it's likely that you'll end up spending much more than $100. Likewise, most urns and pet caskets for dogs are not eco-friendly.
