This dog treat recipe is made with almond and whole wheat flour. You could substitute coconut, oat or chickpea flour instead.

The best part of making homemade treats for your pets is that you can cater them to your dog’s specific nutritional and dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup quick oats
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup parsley (diced)
  • ¼ cup ground flaxseed
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set it aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, quick oats, whole wheat flour, baking powder, ground flaxseed, and diced parsley. Mix until well blended.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, egg and water until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a dough.

As you can see, I just use my hands to pack the dough into small balls and place them on a cookie sheet.

If you’d prefer to roll the dough out and use cookie cutters to make cute shapes, you can do that too. You’ll need to roll the dough out until it’s about 1/4″ thick.

If you want to make small treats for a tiny dog or small treats to use during training, you can roll the dough out and use a pizza cutter or butter knife to score it into tiny squares.

No matter what shape you make them, bake these homemade dog treats for about 15 minutes, until they turn golden brown.

Once the treats have cooled completely, you can serve them to your dog.
