Are you getting frustrated with your felines ignoring their food bowl?

Maybe it's time for you to switch to this homemade cat food for picky eaters recipe ASAP.

Yes, cats are known for being finicky eaters.

And while feline parents out there know this all too well, finding healthy and appetizing food for them can be a daunting task.

But today, I'm going to share with you a homemade recipe for your furballs at home. (More on that later.)

The truth is, whole food ingredients and real protein sources are usually more tempting to picky pets than commercial pet food.

One of the best things about making homemade cat food is that you can add lots of variety to your pet’s diet.

Changing up the protein source and mixing in different fruits and vegetables is a great way to keep mealtime exciting for your pet.

Biologically, cats are obligate carnivores.

Some vital nutrients are better consumed from animal origins than commercial ones.

The same goes for vegetables and fruits.

And contrary to popular belief, plant-based cat diets are also ideal according to experts:

Cats fed plant-based diets were reported to have more ideal body condition scores than cats fed a meat-based diet. More owners of cats fed plant-based diets reported their cat(s) to be in very good health.

If you’ve tried a lot of different options to get your cat to eat regular meals, it may be time to switch to a homemade diet.

However, you need to discuss this change with your vet to achieve your cat’s unique nutritional needs.

Homemade Cat Food for Picky Eaters Recipe

Homemade Cat Food for Picky EatersThis can be a frustrating process, but you can try to test different protein sources.

Does your cat prefer beef or chicken? Neither?

Then perhaps a less popular choice, like venison or duck, can be more enticing to them.

Or tuna and pork.

This may take time, but you need to find that flavor combination that will please your picky pet.

The good thing is, homemade cat food gives you the option to experiment with different ingredients.

So, if the chicken in this recipe doesn’t seem too tempting for your cat, try a different protein source.

How much to feed: I recommend feeding about 1/3 cup of food daily. This recommendation is for 2 servings per day, so the average cat would need about 1/6 cup in the morning and 1/6 cup in the evening. This is just a guideline. Typically cats do not overeat, but some cats do. Your cat may not overeat dry kibble, but the enticing whole-food ingredients of homemade food may cause him to eat more than he should.

How to store: You can store the leftover cat food recipe in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or freeze it in an airtight container for storage of up to 3 months. Keep in mind that this recipe includes no preservatives, so it won't last nearly as long as commercial cat food.
