Recipe: Easy Weight Gain Dog Food

Does your dog need to gain some weight? This easy weight gain dog food adds healthy nutrition to your pet's diet while also helping him gain weight in a safe way. Increasing a dog's fat intake or simply feeding him larger portions isn't a healthy way to add weight. You don't just want Fido packing on extra fat, so increasing his carbohydrate and protein intake is also imperative.

Due to the lack of vitamins and minerals in this recipe, it's not considered a complete balanced meal. This homemade dog food is intended for adult dogs and should NOT be fed to puppies or pregnant dogs. It's also not intended to be fed long term.

This recipe should be used as a snack or treat in addition to your dog's regular diet. I would recommend starting with 1 slice for every 20 pounds of body weight per day. If you don't notice weight gain within the first 5-7 days, increase the number of slices fed per day.

  • Yield: about 16 slices 1x
  • Category: Weight Gain
  • Method: No-Bake
  • Cuisine: Dog Food

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 pound browned ground beef (15-20% fat)
  • 1 cup of kibble (ground)

Instructions

Place all of the ingredients in a medium-size bowl. Knead them together to form a dough. You can add more crushed kibble if necessary to make a dry dough.

Place the dough on wax paper and form into a log. Serve slices as a treat between meals or as a food topper with their regular diet. If your dog begins to have loose stool, cut down the serving size and introduce this food more gradually.
