Vegan pet owners must overcome their personal feelings towards animal products to provide their dogs with a well-balanced and healthy diet.
That said, there are many other pet products and dog supplies outside of dog food that do mesh with the vegan lifestyle.
Below, we’re sharing some of our favorite picks of vegan dog products you should try.
Vegan Dog Treats
Threepaws Gourmet Strawberry Coconut Cream Chia Seed Organic and Vegan Dog Treats
Price: $14.99 on Amazon
Threepaws Gourmet Strawberry Coconut Cream Chia Seed organic and vegan dog treats look almost good enough for us to eat. Almost… Made with chia seeds, peanut butter, and organic coconut cream, these treats aren’t just vegan; they’re healthy, too, because they’re grain-free, gluten-free, corn-free, and soy-free.
If you’re looking to support a small business that gives a portion of its proceeds to charity (Farm Sanctuary) and treats your pup to something rich in flavor, these treats are a good choice.
Unlike many other vegan treats, these fruity biscuits have ditched the bland taste and replaced it with the much sweeter yet healthier benefits of coconut, peanuts, and chia seeds.
Shaded Trails All Natural Crunchy Vegan Dog Treats
Price: $11.87 on Amazon
If you’d rather stick with the more traditional taste profiles for your dog’s treats, then Shaded Trails All Natural and Vegan Crunchy Dog Treats are a good starting point. Made with human-grade ingredients, these vegan treats are grain-free, low-fat, soy-free, wheat-free, filler-free, and free from artificial colors and preservatives.
Think all that means is these cookies are lacking flavor?
Don’t, because both the peanut butter and banana flavor cookies and the sweet potato and apple flavor cookies are aromatic and, apparently, delicious.
(We didn’t try them ourselves, but the dogs seem to go crazy for them!)
V-dog Pet Treats
Price: $11.39 on Amazon
V-dog is a vegan-based pet product company that specializes in plant-based formulas. While these treats aren’t exactly tasty, they are a must for keeping doggy breath at bay.
Don’t get us wrong, they’re not offensive in the way they smell, but they aren’t exactly your gourmet coconut cream cookies, either.
That said, they do a pretty good job of cleaning your dog’s teeth without adding animal products, wheat, soy, corn, factory farming, dairy, fillers, or by-products.
If you’ve been tempted by the idea of “Greenies,” we’d recommend V-dog Breathbones treats instead.
They’re a healthier alternative made from all-natural ingredients, including broccoli, cinnamon, parsley, sweet potatoes, and chia seeds.
Raw Paws Pet Grain-Free Training Treats for Dogs
Price: $12.99 on Amazon
We have had the pleasure of trying out a number of Raw Paws products for dogs, and not a single one has disappointed us so far. Their grain-free sweet potato training treats are no exception. Okay, how wrong can you go with small pieces of dried sweet potato?
But since we trust the Raw Paws brand, we feel much more comfortable feeding our dogs their sweet potato treats than using another megacorporation alternative.
The Raw Paws sweet potato training treats are grain-free, gluten-free, and easy to digest, and they’re cut to the perfect size for training sessions.
Plus, they have a sweetness to them that’s appealing, so you don’t have to rely on that “stinky liver treat smell” to convince your dog to obey their commands!
UPDATE: The sweet potato variant is unavailable at the time of this update, but we also highly recommend this peanut butter variant instead!
Vegan Cleaning Dog Supplies
Puracy Everyday Surface Cleaner
Price: $9.99 on Amazon
Puracy products are pet-safe and child-safe, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, vegan, gluten-free, and never tested on animals. Moreover, they contain no sulfates, triclosan, parabens, formaldehyde, SLS, phosphates, SLES, DEA, MEA, TEA, chlorine, petroleum ingredients, dyes, animal by-products, caustics, or synthetic fragrances.
Simply put, Puracy is about as natural as it gets, but what’s even better is that they have an entire line of cleaning products that includes detergent, stain remover, surface cleaner, dish soap, and hand soap.
For just under $40, you can get the cleaning bundle, including all the above products.
You can also add other products in their line (skincare products or bath products) for a discount, or you can buy products individually.
What we like best about this line of products aside from the fact that they’re family-safe and cruelty-free is that their stain remover actually works without that chemical after-smell!
Sun & Earth All Purpose Cleaner Wipes (Pack of 6)
Prices start at $29.99 on Amazon.
Sun and Earth is another popular vegan-friendly brand of cleaning products, but being nut-free, they are also a favorite of allergy households!
Sun and Earth products are also soy-free, kosher, cruelty-free, dye-free, phosphate-free, perfume-free, UV brightener-free, and free from synthetics.
The Sun and Earth cleaning products include laundry detergent, hand soap, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, dryer sheets, floor cleaner, surface wipes, and veggie wash.
We prefer the Sun and Earth natural cleaning products over the others on this list simply because they have more products to offer, and they’re approved for allergy-prone households.
You can also pick up individual products as you need them, which is ideal because we always run out of surface wipes before everything else!
Greenerways Organic Natural USDA All-Purpose Cleaner for Home
Greenerways Organic Natural USDA All-Purpose Cleaner for the Home is a great addition to our list because it’s affordable, efficient, and vegan-friendly.
Greenerways products are certified organic by the USDA, cruelty-free, non-toxic, biodegradable, kid and pet-safe, non-GMO, hypoallergenic, and natural.
What sets the Greenerways Cleaner apart from others on the list?
It’s actually designed to nourish your skin while you’re using it to clean.
If you’re like us and a little too sensitive to chemicals in traditional cleaners, then you have to give this one a try.
Personally, I have skin that turns fire red with every commercially available cleaner, and I absolutely can’t stand the residual smell on my hands that lingers for days!
The Greenerways cleaner, which can be used on just about every surface, is gentle on my hands and leaves them smelling clean but not toxic.
Vegan Dog Toys
Simply Fido Wally 6-Inch Petite Blue Bear Squeaker Dog Toy
Price: $9.60 on Walmart
If your dog loves their stuffies, then Simply Fido is a brand of toys that you want to keep an eye on.
Made with organic cotton, filled with recycled stuffing, and with a big fat squeaker inside, these plush toys are worth the extra expense.
We love that these toys are vegan-friendly, but we also love them because they don’t have button eyes or any sewn-on features that can be tugged right off.
The 6” Simply Fido Bear is just one of the plushies available from the Simply Fido soft toy line, which also includes larger pieces, but it’s one of their best-selling toys.
They also have a plush lion, grey bear, frog, alligator, cow, owl, rabbit, elephant, monkey, and caterpillar!
If I had my way, I’d collect them all, but if you can only grab one, they have enough variety that there’s something for every pup!
West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl Interactive Treat Dispensing Dog Puzzle Treat Chew Toy
Price: $24.95 on Amazon
The West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl interactive treat-dispensing puzzle treat toy is a great vegan-friendly solution for dogs that chew, similar to many other best interactive dog toys.
They offer a 100% guarantee against dog damage because their toys are that durable.
We love this toy for its guarantee and application – you can use it to dispense kibble for fast eaters to slow them down, but it can also be used to hold chew treats more easily.
The Qwizl is free of latex, FDA compliant, BPA free, and phthalate-free, and for you germaphobes out there – it’s completely washable!
This is a great alternative to those other treats dispensing toys that aren’t vegan-friendly, and the unique design is enough to keep your pup’s brain ticking for a while without their getting bored.
We don’t recommend it for dogs that are shredders of drywall (don’t ask), but it is a great pick for your moderate chewers.
Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Recycle Bone
Price: $7.19-$13.99 on Mooshiepets
Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Recycle Bone is FDA-approved, phthalate-free, BPA-free, and non-toxic; plus, it floats, and it’s completely washable. This recyclable bone isn’t as versatile as the Qwizl, but it’s a good option for dogs that like spending time by the water – Labrador parents, that’s you!
What is it we do like about this toy aside from its vegan-friendly features?
It bounces when you throw it, so it’s perfect for a silly and unpredictable game of fetch!
The recyclable bone is also useful in slowing down dogs that gulp their kibble, and it can stand up to some aggressive chewing.
Overall, it’s a good pick, though we wouldn’t use it to replace the Qwizl – go for both if you can – but it’s a great second choice if you can’t find the Qwizl in stock.
Vegan Dog Grooming, Healthcare Products
Farm Dog Naturals Restore Wound Care and Itch Relief Salve for Dogs
Price: $22.49 on Amazon
Wound care and itch relief products are usually packed with artificial ingredients and harsh chemicals, but Farm Dog Naturals aren’t. Their Restore Wound Care and Itch Salve is an herbal formula that isn’t just approved as vegan but also cruelty-free and non-GMO.
As an antibacterial, this is a great salve for scrapes and scratches, but its anti-itch properties are also perfect for dogs with dermatitis.
The best thing about Restore Salve, though, is that it’s effective on hot spots.
If you’ve ever had a dog with hot spots, then you know how raw and stubborn they can be.
The Restore salve relieves your dog from the itch, but it’s also extremely efficient at healing hot spots.
In fact, it’s the fastest-acting salve we’ve ever used on hot spots, and that’s saying something!
The earthy smell of it might not be the best, but it’s worth putting up with for the efficiency of the salve.
Natural Dog Company Snout Soother
Price: $17.95 on Amazon
The last on the list of vegan dog products is probably the most popular item. Snout Soother from the Natural Dog Company is a vet-recommended vegan-friendly dog balm made with only organic ingredients.
Although it works as a natural sunscreen for your dog’s nose, the best use for this ointment is to heal and soothe dry and cracked noses.
If your dog gets dryness and flaking around the edges of its snout like one of our “Dudley” labs did, you’ll find that this helps to keep future flaking at bay and repair any existing damage.
Snout Soother is also approved for use on dogs with discoid lupus and hyperkeratosis.
What do we like best about this product besides the fact that it works? It’s fragrance-free, and if you have a “licker,” it’s perfectly safe if they get a tongue-full of it too!
