Review: Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder

Technology has given pet owners a lot of beneficial products to help care for their canine companions. The pet industry has given us GPS trackers, pet cameras and even automatic feeders. These feeders allow you to keep your dog on an eating schedule whether you are home or not. The Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder is one of the options available on the market.

There are many different models of automatic pet feeders available. The feeder that will work best for your dog will depend on his size, the amount he eats at every serving, the type of food that you feed him and how many times he eats each day.

There are some other features that you should also consider when choosing the right feeder for your dog – for example, how much food the feeder can hold in the hopper. If you have a large breed dog, you'll want to find a feeder that can hold multiple pounds of food. A feeder that can only hold a few cups of food won't be suitable for your dog's needs.

I've had the opportunity to use the Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder with my dogs for the past few months. As you know, I have a Labrador and a Beagle mix. Did this feeder hold enough food for them? Was it easy to clean? Did my dogs like using it?

I'll answer all of these questions and more. Let's look at the pros and cons of this product, and I'll let you know if I recommend it to other pet owners.

Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder Review

THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

This pet feeder is an affordable option compared to most other similar products. Some automatic pet feeders can cost more than $300, and that's just not an amount that's in every dog owner's budget.

Unfortunately, the Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder only holds about 18 cups of food. It's not ideal for large breeds, but it does work for them. If you have a large dog, you'll just have to fill the feeder every day or two. It is an ideal feeder for small and medium breeds, though.

My favorite thing about this product is that it gives you the option of running on a DC power cable that plugs into an electrical outlet or 3 size D batteries. The batteries aren't included, and they'll only run the feeder for about 7-10 days. The batteries aren't an economical option to power the feeder all the time, but this option does give you the versatility to take the feeder with you while camping or traveling.

It's also a great source of backup power in the event of a power outage.

The Petwant Automatic Pet Feeder allows you to set up to 4 meal times per day, and it will dispense between 1/10 and 1 cup of food at each meal. There is also an alarm that alerts your dog when the food is being dispensed. It took our dogs a few days to learn what the alarm meant, but once they were trained they would run to the feeder as soon as they heard the tone.

There is a 100X pixel camera on the front of this device that pairs with a smartphone app. The app is free to download on compatible iOS devices above 7.5 and Android devices above 4.0. The camera records your dog's movements in real time video.

You can take still photos with the camera as well and save them to the app. Petwant also gives you the ability to share the photos and videos on social media, so you can show your friends and family how adorable your Fido is.

This feeder sells for about $150 on Amazon, which is pretty pricey for a device that only works for small and medium breeds. However, it does pair with the app for easy programming and is equipped with a decent camera. It's in the middle of the range of pet feeders as far as price goes, but also offers some features that other products don't.

All in all, I'd say this is a reasonable price for the product that you get. It's made with quality materials that are durable, so I expect that it should last for many years.
