Every dog deserves a comfortable bed. If your dog suffers with arthritis or hip and joint problems, an orthopedic dog bed will provide the support and comfort she needs to rest. Some dogs prefer sleeping on an elevated bed while others like a more lavish, sofa-style bed. A donut-shaped calming dog bed, like this one from Pet Craft Supply, is a great option for “nesters” and pets with stress and anxiety issues.
Nesters are dogs that like to curl up in a ball and snuggle into comfortable bedding when they sleep. They may paw or scratch at the bedding to fluff it up. A bed made from a single piece of orthopedic foam wouldn't entice these pups, but a soft donut-shaped bed with bolsters around all sides is just what they need.
When your dog has her own dog bed, she has a place in your home that is all hers. She doesn't need to share this space with anyone else in your family. Maybe your dog doesn't like to be by herself very often, but when she does she'll have a comfortable, warm and safe oasis.
If you think your pet might like a round bed that is soft and plush, the Pet Craft Supply Donut-Shaped Calming Dog Bed may be just what you're looking for. As you'll see below, my dogs have really been enjoying this bed. It's holding up very well, and the price tag is affordable.
Pet Craft Supply Calming Dog Bed Review
I have the medium size, which is a 30″ circle. The bed is also available in 18″ and 24″ options. Each size comes with a 30″ x 40″ blanket. Due to the limited size, this bed is best suited for small and medium breeds.
If your dog suffers with anxiety and/or stress issues, this bed may help to calm her. Donut-style beds provide a wrap around design that gives anxious and stressed dogs a sense of safety and security. These dogs may actually run to their bed when they need to calm down.
The vegan faux-fur covering is extremely soft, and great for dogs that love to snuggle and burrow into their bedding. However, I do have a dog that loves to play with soft, plush toys. Every once in a while he'll grab the bed and try to chew it.
If you have a chewer, this bed won't be a good option. The faux fur might entice your pet to chew the fabric.
The bed is stuffed with orthopedic foam chip padding. That does not mean it's an orthopedic bed. The chips move to the sides when your dog lies down. My dogs definitely seem to find the comfortable, but it doesn't provide the firm support of a certified orthopedic dog bed.
The removable cover and included blanket are both machine washable and dryable. The bed is easy to clean, but I do wish it had a waterproof lining. My dogs often chew bones on their beds, and their slobber seeps right into the bedding. Waterproof liners are also great if your dog has an accident on his bed.
This bed ranges in price from $39.29-$135.16 on Amazon right now. Compared to other similar beds, that's in the low-to-average price range. The bed seems to be made of good quality materials. I expect that we'll have it for at least a couple of years.
Most beds in this price range are made with cotton or polyfil stuffing. These types of filling flatten out quickly and clump up if you try to wash them. The orthopedic foam chips will hold up longer over time, so I think this calming dog bed is a good value for the money.
