Review: Pet Control HQ Wireless Electric Fence and Remote Dog Training Collar

When used properly, electronic dog training collars are an effective tool to help owners with all different types of training. Electronic fences are also an effective tool to help teach boundary training and keep your pet safe. Many companies manufacture both of these products, but Pet Control HQ is one of the only companies that sell both in a combination package.

As with any electronic dog training tool, you need to be sure that you read the instructions thoroughly before using these products with your pet. You need to understand how they work, how to train your pet properly and how to test the system to ensure that the receivers are working properly before you use them with your dog.

Pet Control HQ Wireless Electric Fence and Remote Dog Training Collar Review

Pet Control HQ ReviewAs I mentioned, this product is a dog training collar and in-ground fence system in one. There is 1 receiver collar, and it responds to the remote transmitter as well as the in-ground boundary wire.

The collar fits dogs weighing 11-154 pounds with a neck circumference of 8″-27″. The receiver collar is rechargeable and waterproof. The remote works up to 3/4 of a mile away, and you can add up to 3 dogs to this system.

The Pet Control HQ system comes with 492 feet of 20-gauge wire, but you can purchase additional wire to cover up to 10 acres if necessary. You can install the wire above or under the ground. This allows you to customize the boundary to meet your unique needs.

Wireless Dog Fence System - Dog Fence Electric Shock Collar Training with Remote - Pet Containment System with Fence Wire Underground Perimeter - 2 Bark Collar Included The trouble with wireless fence systems is that they put out a wireless radius that your dog cannot cross. If there is an area (like a garden or pond) that you don't want your dog to access contained inside that radius, your pooch will still be able to get to it.

With a system like the Pet Control HQ Electric Fence, you can run the wire around the boundary of your yard AND around any areas you don't want your dog to access. So, let's say you don't want your pup digging up your flowers. You can run the boundary wire around your yard and around your flower garden. This will keep him inside the yard, but OUT of your garden.

One thing that I don't like is that this fence only beeps once before electronically correcting your dog. We've used similar systems in the past that beginning beeping slowly when your dog gets within a certain distance of the boundary wire. As he gets closer, the collar beeps faster. This gives a good long warning for your dog to recognize before he gets a static correction.

electronic fence for dogsThe collar features 3 levels of static correction with the boundary fence, and there are 10 levels of vibration and correction for the remote. All-in-all, this collar is effective. It corrects your dog when it's supposed to, and so far we haven't had any issues.

Consistency is the most important factor to consider when shopping for an electronic training device. The last thing that you want is the collar to correct your dog at the wrong time or for it not to work when your dog crosses the boundary. Consistency is the key to training a dog, and you need tools that will help with that.

Another drawback to electronic dog training tools is the price. They aren't cheap to purchase, but if you make a wise purchase you'll have these training tools to use with generations of dogs.

The Pet Control HQ Wireless Electronic Fence and Remote Training Collar Combo can be purchased for $189.99 on Amazon right now. This is for the system that includes 1 collar. If you're interested in the 2-collar system, you can purchase it for $299.99.

As far as training collars and in-ground fence systems go, that's a very reasonable price. However, considering this is a 2-in-1 product, I think it's a great value for the money. Keep in mind that if you need to purchase additional collars or extra wire it will be an additional expense.
