These frozen dog treats are a great way to help your pup beat the heat in the summer months. I even keep them around in the winter for an after exercise snack. Our dogs love the peanut butter flavor!
Making your own homemade dog treats isn't as difficult as you may think. With a bit of internet research, you can find an easy-to-make treats recipe that uses ingredients you probably already have in the pantry.
When you use ingredients that you select yourself, you can be sure that the homemade dog treats you're feeding the Fido are healthy and safe for him. Try to select the best quality ingredients. I always look for organic, all-natural products that aren't made with any fillers or artificial ingredients and colors.

Peanut Butter and Banana Frozen Dog Treats Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 peeled banana
- splash of milk (any kind)
- 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
Directions
You'll need a blender for this recipe. These peanut butter and banana frozen dog treats only use 5 ingredients, and they're extremely simple to make.
All you need to do is add all the ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. Once the mixture is blended, you can pour it into molds. I use a silicone cupcake pan, but you can use traditional cupcake papers if you'd like.
I use the silicone pan because the treats are easy to remove once frozen. If you use cupcake papers, I recommend using the foil papers and taking them out of the freezer about 5 minutes before serving.
The liquid freezes to the paper, and if you try to remove it when the treats are fresh from the freezer you'll leave a lot of paper stuck to the treat. The silicone pan prevents that, and you can usually find them for just a few dollars at any department store.

Once the treats are frozen you can remove them from the pan and place them in an airtight container. They'll keep in the freezer for 8-10 weeks. I usually make a large batch (4 times the amount of this recipe). This recipe yields about 6 large dog treats or 10 small/medium dog treats.
I make a quadruple batch and store them in a large container. That way I have enough peanut butter and banana frozen dog treats to last our three pooches quite a while. It saves on having to make treats every week or two.
As I mention in my video guide, you can also substitute other supplements for the flaxseed in this recipe. Flaxseed is a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids that aid in healthy skin and coat. If your pet takes a different supplement, like glucosamine or calcium, you could easily add that to the recipe as well.
