Traffic leads can be very helpful when walking your dog in a busy area. From crowded sidewalks to hiking trails, this short type of leash can be used to keep your dog close when there is no room to roam. The Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead is made from 100% full-grain real latigo leather. It's durable and just the right size to give you full control over your pooch when necessary.
The right traffic lead can be attached to the D-ring on your dog's collar and left hanging there until you need it. Let's say you're hiking with your dog and come upon another hiker with their dog on the trail. If you have a traffic lead, you can securely keep your dog by your side without having to worry about his leash slipping through your fingers.
Some leashes have a built-in traffic handle. It's attached to the leash down by the clasp that attaches to his collar. Having a 2-in-1 product is easier for me, but some dog owners need a separate traffic lead.
These leads can be especially helpful when training a dog, working on agility skills, or competing in a dog show. That's why I wanted to try the Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead. I often have to recommend products to pet owners, and I have been searching for a traffic lead that I could happily share with family and friends.
Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead Review
This traffic lead is 12″ long by 3/4″ wide. It is made of 100% full-grain real latigo leather, which is cowhide leather. According to the company's website, the swivel hook is also made of stainless steel. As will all leather products, the leather is very stiff at first. For this reason, the Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead is hard on your hand at first, but it softens up over time.
As I mentioned, traffic leads like this are useful for training or walking your dog in high-traffic areas. They are also great for vet visits. You don't need to worry about your dog pulling on a leash when you have total control over him with a traffic lead.
The Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead is a little bit heavier than similar products made with nylon. This isn't a big problem unless you have a small breed. As you can see in my video review above, when I leave the traffic lead attached to our Labrador's collar she doesn't even notice.
Along with the latigo leather, this lead is also made with a metal rivet and double stitching. While it's a little bit heavier, it's obviously much higher quality than traditional nylon traffic leads.
You can purchase the Leatherberg Dog Traffic Lead on Amazon for $20.99. It's a few dollars more expensive than most similar products, but for the exceptional quality I still find it a great value. It also comes with a 1-year, no-risk 100% money-back guarantee.
