Review: KOHA Canned Dog Food & Dehydrated Food Mixes

Choosing the right diet for your pet is one of the most difficult aspects of being a dog owner. While the vast majority of dog owners choose a commercial kibble diet, most of us also know that a high-quality canned diet is typically a better option. KOHA Canned Dog Food is one of the best options in this pet food category, so I had to give it a try myself.

When shopping for dog food, you want to consider your dog’s preferences. You also need to factor in cost, ingredient quality, company reputation, and your dog’s individual health needs. Dry kibble may be the most popular option, but it's also the most boring. Some premium quality kibbles use raw pieces to entice dogs to eat, but the cheaper quality kibbles only offer a bland diet.

Dry kibble will meet your dog's nutritional needs, but it won't provide any hydration. In fact, you need to make sure your dog drinks more water to ensure he doesn't get dehydrated while eating a dry diet. Canned dog food provides a much higher water content, and it's also much more appealing to your pooch.

The Limited Ingredient line features one meat source per can, and every recipe contains New Zealand green mussels for joint health. They also include pumpkins for good digestion. Limited ingredients dog foods are ideal for pets with food allergies or sensitivities.

dogs eatingAs you will see in my video review, our dogs LOVE these foods. They are big fans of canned dog food anyway, but the KOHA canned dog food recipes definitely seem to be especially enticing. They seem to enjoy the stews the most. I think the gravy really appeals to them.

Canned dog food is more expensive than dry kibble. High-quality canned dog food also costs more than products made with inexpensive and artificial ingredients. As expected, KOHA canned dog food isn't going to fit in every dog owners' budget.

You can purchase the Limited Ingredient diet for $4.39/can or 12 cans for $41.88 ($3.49/can). The Stews and Slow Cooked Stews sell for $3.74/can or 12 cans for $35.88 ($2.99/can) on the company's website. You can purchase a few of the recipes on Amazon, but they are more expensive through online retailers.

I don't feed my dogs a 100% canned diet, because it's much too expensive. However, you can add KOHA canned dog food as a topper to your pup's dry kibble. It will add extra nutrients, make the meal more appealing to your pet, and provide some moisture to the dry dog food.

KOHA also sells dehydrated dog food mixes. These mixes can be added to canned food or raw dog food meals to boost the nutrient content and ensure your dog is eating a balanced diet. They are made with fruits, veggies, and canine superfoods.

These mixes are available in 2-ounce trail packs for just $1.99, so you can try them before you commit to buying a larger package. You can also get a 2-pound bag for $19.99. Compared to other high-quality dog food supplements, this is a very reasonable price.
