Making your dog homemade food and treats is the only way to be 100% sure that you know what ingredients are being used. It takes a little more time to prepare and a lot of research, but once you figure out what foods work best for your pooch, you'll be able to provide him with a nutritionally balanced, wholesome diet that will keep him in optimum health. Perhaps these homemade dog treats with baby food would be a good choice for your Fido.
Of course, it's not easy to figure out your dog's unique nutritional needs. And, you have to continually update your dog's diet depending on what stage of life he is and what his overall health condition is. For that reason, many pet owners choose to add nutritional value to their pup's diet by making homemade treats and leaving the meals up to the commercial pet food industry.
Did you know that hundreds of pet food products are recalled every year? Many of these products are treats that are recalled for contamination issues or due to harmful ingredients. By making your own dog treats at home you ensure your dog's health and safety.
These homemade dog treats with baby food are some of my favorites. There is a large variety of baby food puree on the market, and you can use multiple flavors to create yummy flavor combinations for your pet.

Homemade Dog Treats with Baby Food Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 1 egg
- 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 jars all-natural, baby food with NO preservatives
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°.
Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and stir until it forms a sticky dough. Once the dough is finished, you'll notice that it is about the consistency of chunky peanut butter. You won't be able to roll it out on a floured surface and cut out shapes.
Instead, simply drop small balls of dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Squash the dough balls down with the back of a spoon. If you have a silicone cookie pan like I do, you can use that to make shaped cookies instead.
You'll need to bake these homemade dog treats with baby food for about 20 minutes in your 350° oven. Once they have cooled you can feed them to your pup. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 10 days.
