When a dog is itching and scratching nonstop, your first thought is probably fleas. If you've ruled out those common pests, you may be considering a homemade dog itch spray to help moisturize and heal dry, flaky skin. While this spray will help nourish dry skin, it won't cure all of the causes of itching.
Itchy skin could be a symptom of allergies (environmental or nutritional), anxiety or infection. If you notice your dog scratching more than normal, it's important to make an appointment to have your dog checked out by your veterinarian.
Once you've ruled out a more serious condition, you can use a homemade dog itch spray to help your dog feel better. This spray is 100% natural and completely safe for your dog. You don't have to worry if your pup licks it, and it's very easy to apply.

How To Make Homemade Dog Itch Spray
Apple cider vinegar has been shown to have antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties. Do NOT use it directly on your dog's skin, because the high acidity of apple cider vinegar could actually be harmful to the dog. It could irritate your pet's skin and cause a burning sensation.
Use an organic type of apple cider vinegar. You can make a 50/50 blend of apple cider vinegar and water in an empty spray bottle. If you'd like a more nourishing spray, use the recipe above. Green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It can help to stop the itching and repair the damaged skin.
Apply the spray to your dog 2-3 times per day until the itching stops. If your dog has chronic skin itchiness, you can use this homemade dog itch spray once per day as a treatment remedy once the constant itching has subsided.
This spray should not be used if your dog has open wounds on their skin. It will sting and cause your dog unnecessary pain. You should also pay close attention to the itchy areas after applying. If you notice any redness or the itchiness seems to get worse, stop using the spray and contact your veterinarian.
