Grain-Free Pumpkin Coconut Dog Treats
These homemade dog treats are made with coconut flour. They are naturally grain-and gluten-free.
Coconut flour is also hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for dogs with digestive sensitivities.
Ingredients
- 15 oz. canned pumpkin
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. turmeric
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 and 2/3 cups of coconut flour
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350˚ F.
Whisk the pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs, and coconut oil together in a large bowl. Add the coconut flour, turmeric, and cinnamon.
Mix until thoroughly combined. Allow the dough to sit for 10 minutes to give the coconut flour time to soak up the moisture.
As you'll see in my video guide above, I use a well-greased mini muffin tin to bake these treats.
You could also drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a well-greased baking sheet and press the cookies down with a fork.
No matter what shape you make them, bake the treats for about 40-45 minutes or until they're brown on the top.
Grain-Free, No Bake Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treat
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. coconut flour (I used Red Mill)
- 4 tbsp. natural, sugar-free peanut butter
- 8 tbsp. canned pumpkin puree
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- shredded coconut or powdered carob for rolling
Instructions
Mix the coconut flour, peanut butter, pumpkin, cinnamon, and ginger.
If the dough is a bit crumbly, add small amounts of peanut butter, working the dough in your hands to help the oil bring the dough together.
Break little amounts of dough off and roll into balls. Roll each ball in the shredded coconut or powdered carob.
Pumpkin Peanut Butter Homemade Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 3 cups brown rice flour (or gluten-free flour if your dog has allergies)
- 1/2 cup oats (you can substitute an extra 1/4 cup of grain-free flour instead)
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 eggs
- 3 tbsp. all-natural peanut butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°.
In a small bowl, combine the flour, oats, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin, eggs, and peanut butter.
When both are well mixed, stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients slowly.
Add about 1/4 of the dry ingredients and blend thoroughly. Then add another quarter and stir until that is completely mixed.
Continue until you've created a large ball of dry dough.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough until it's about 1/4″ thick. You can use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes or just use a butter knife or pizza cutter.
But since it's the Halloween season, try and cut out shapes like pumpkins, bats, spiders, and any Halloween-themed shapes.
Once you've cut out the treats, place them on a well-greased cookie sheet and bake them in the 350° oven for about 30-35 minutes.
You'll know when they are done because they'll turn a nice shade of golden brown.
When the treats are cool, you can feed them to your pooch. Store any leftover treats in an airtight container for about 7-10 days.
You can also store the dough or the baked treats in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Most peanut butter is safe for dogs. Dogs can and love to eat peanut butter.

Yes, dogs can eat bananas but in moderation. Bananas are low in calories and they are a great source of potassium, vitamins, biotin, fiber, and copper.
