Home Dog Supplies Reviews Review: FurZapper Dog Hair Remover

Review: FurZapper Dog Hair Remover

The mess created by shed dog hair is one of the biggest complaints that pet owners have. It sticks to clothing and upholstery and collects in every corner of your home. There are many products available to help remove dog hair from clothing, and the FurZapper is one of the newest.

Not only is shed pet hair annoying when it builds up around your home, but it is also unsightly when it's stuck to your clothes. Nothing looks more unprofessional than showing up to work with pet hair all over your shirt.

FurZapper Dog Hair Remover product photoOf course, there are lint rollers and other pet hair removal devices available. You can go through sheet after sheet when using a lint roller. They are effective, but they're not very economical or eco-friendly.

The FurZapper Dog Hair Remover was designed to remove pet hair when your clothes are in the washer and/or dryer, and it should be far more effective at removing pet hair than just regular washing and drying of clothes. This product has recently won the 2018 New Product Showcase at SuperZoo. I wanted to see how this hair remover worked because, with 2 dogs and 5 cats, I'm always looking for ways to get rid of pet hair. So here are my thoughts.

FurZapper Dog Hair Remover Review

FurZapperThese round discs are about 4 inches in diameter. They are soft and squishy but aren't sticky to the touch. However, their unique texture allows pet hair and lint to stick to them like glue.

As you will see in my video review above, you just throw the FurZapper in the washing machine with your load of laundry and run any cycle. Then, transfer the clothes and the FurZapper to the dryer. Again, run any cycle necessary.

These FurZapper discs don't dissolve in the washing machine or melt in the dryer.

FurZapperThe discs self-clean in the washer, and you can run them under warm water when they come out of the dryer to remove stuck on hair and lint. They are reusable, unlike lint roller sheets, and hypoallergenic.

The FurZapper is made in the USA. As you will see in my video review above, hair and lint do stick to these discs. I can't say that every single piece of hair was removed when my clothes were in the laundry with the FurZapper, but there was more dog hair in the lint trap than normal.

Unfortunately, the company recommends having 1 FurZapper for every animal that you have. That would mean that we would need 7 FurZappers! We only have two, so I'm sure I would notice better results if we had 7 of them.

FurZapper Dog Hair Remover ReviewAlso, some detergents will leave a film on the discs after washing. I make a homemade powder laundry detergent and didn't have any trouble. You shouldn't use this product with dryer sheets, either. They contain ingredients that act like an oil, which reduces or eliminates the tacky surface of the FurZapper.

You cannot overload your washer or dryer while using this product. The company recommends filling your washer to 1/2 or 3/4 full. If there is not enough water, it is not able to rinse the hair off the disc as often or rinse it down the drain.

You can purchase one FurZapper on Amazon for $9.99 or get a 2-pack for $12.88. If you have 1 or 2 pets, this device would be a good value for you. However, if you have lots of pets (like me) it may be more of a hassle to add 7 FurZappers to every load of laundry. Not to mention, it would cost more than $50 to get enough FurZappers for all of our pets.
