Does your dog enjoy riding in the car? Mine does. She loves to stick her head out the window, or climb up into the front seat and look out the window, and she even likes to chase passing cars from the front to the back of the vehicle. But it's not safe. That's why a restraint like the EzyDog Chest Plate Dog Harness is a crucial piece of equipment that we all need to have for car rides.
Would you allow small children to roam around your car while you were driving? Of course not! You would make sure they were firmly buckled into a safety seat before putting the car in drive. So, why not do the same for your pet?
These types of restraints aren't the only way to keep your pup safe while riding. You could put him in a kennel or let your small breed ride in a car seat for dogs. You could also purchase a barrier that would at least keep Fido in the cargo area or the back seat.
I decided to review this harness from EzyDog because it can be used as an everyday walking harness or as a seat belt for dogs. It's much more convenient than having to switch your dog's harness every time he needs to go for a ride.
If you're thinking that your canine companion doesn't need a seat belt, think again. Even if you only take your dog for a ride a couple of times each year, he should still be secured in the vehicle.
Dogs can be a huge distraction to drivers, and if your dog sits still while in the vehicle he will still turn into a dangerous projectile in the event of an accident. Think of the damage it would do if your dog went hurling through the car during an impact. The force of his weight could severely injure you, your passengers and your dog.
It's wise to invest in some type of seat belt or car seat for your dog, like the EzyDog Chest Plate Harness. Do a little research and choose a product that is strong enough to restrain a pet that weighs as much as yours. The right seat belt will allow your dog to stand, sit and lie down comfortably.

EzyDog Chest Plate Dog Harness Review
The EzyDog Chest Plate Dog Harness features an ergonomically designed EVA foam chest plate. It also features two adjustment points that allow you get a snug fit. As I mentioned, it has a steel O-ring so it can be used as a traditional dog walking harness.
In my video review I show you how easy it is to attach this harness to your vehicle’s seat belt. There is a separate seat belt restraint clip that comes with the harness. It attaches in seconds and you slide the seat belt through this attachment to secure your dog.
Another great advantage is that the EzyDog Chest Plate Dog Harness is made with high visibility reflective stitching. This is a good feature to look for, as it greatly increases you and your pet's visibility. It's especially important if you usually walk your dog in the evening or early in the morning using any dog harness.
You can get this dog harness in a variety of colors, including:
- black
- red
- blue
- brown
- orange
- purple
You can also find it in pink and green camo, pink and purple stripes, and brown and purple stripes. These colors are more expensive than the solid colors though. The EzyDog Chest Plate Harness is available in sizes from extra-small to 2X.
ULTIMATE LIST: The 50 Best Dog Harnesses for Walking Your Dogs
Depending on the size that your dog needs, the prices range from $24-$27 on Amazon for the solid color dog harnesses and $30-$34 for the pattern designs. For a versatile dog harness for cars like this one, it's a great deal, in my opinion.
One thing I don't like about this dog harness is that the chest plate is narrow. My dog's seem more comfortable in a harness with a wider chest pad. I think a wider chest pad would also help distribute the force more evenly when the dog pulls on the leash or in the event of an accident when they are in the car.
The plastic adjusters on the straps also tend to slide on their own if you have a very active dog. They don't adjust a lot, like some other dog harnesses, but it's enough of a change to loosen this harness. Our boxer isn't very active and the adjusters don't move when she wears it, but when our young chocolate lab wears a harness for dogs, the adjusters will slide on their own if she wears it for a long period of time.
How to put on a dog harness?
