Review: EliteField Dog Training Collar

Training collars are widely controversial, but when used correctly they can be an effective training aid. Today, I'm simply reviewing the EliteField Dog Training Collar, not sharing my opinion on whether or not using an electronic collar is an appropriate way to train your pet. That decision is completely up to you!

While there are many people who do not believe that training collars are a humane training aid, there are also many pet owners who find them to be a safe and effective resource. I've tested many of these devices in the past, and the one thing that I can say with certainty is that all dog training collars are not made equally.

EliteField Dog Training CollarYou can find dog training collars that sell for as little as $25. In this case, you get what you pay for, and it is NOT a good thing.

Cheap training collars are made with cheaper materials and have a poor quality electrical system. This means that the remote transmitter may not work every time you hit the button. It also means that your dog may get an electrical correction for no reason.

Take it from someone with a lot of experience with these devices, the cheaper products are dangerous! Using an inconsistent product will only make you feel frustrated and confuse your pet.

With that being said, the EliteField Dog Training Collar is more expensive than many other similar products, but it also offers more features and is much more reliable than cheaper alternatives.

EliteField Dog Training Collar Review

EliteField Dog Training Collar

This electronic collar from EliteField is run by a remote control, so you have to be watching your dog at all times in order for it to be effective. For example, if you plan to use it to teach your dog the boundaries of your yard, you're going to have to be watching him in order to correct him when he crosses the boundary. If you plan to use it to train your dog to stay out of unwanted areas, you'll need to be watching him when he accesses those areas.

The EliteField Dog Training Collar isn't as convenient as wireless containment systems, but it is a lot more versatile. For starters, you can take this system with you anywhere you go. And, you can use it as an aid in many different types of training, not just boundary training.

EliteField Dog Training CollarA remote control system also allows you to train your dog using verbal cues, as well as the audible and static corrections. The EliteField Dog Training Collar also has an impressive 660 yard range, so it is a handy to tool to use when training a hunting or working dog.

One remote can control up to 3 collars, so this system is an option for multi-pet families, hunters or trainers working with multiple canines at one time. The receiver collars are suitable for dogs weighing 15-120 pounds, so this product isn't suitable for use with for small dog breeds.

This system offers 4 correction modes, including:

  • audible tone
  • vibration
  • momentary electronic stimulation
  • continuous electronic stimulation

EliteField Dog Training CollarI prefer working with a system that offers the vibration correction, because it will catch the attention of most dogs without having to use the static correction. While some dogs don't respond to the audible tone right away, the vibration will usually get their attention.

The EliteField Dog Training Collar allows you to vary the electronic stimulation on 12 levels, making it safe for all dogs that can fit the collar. The receiver is also waterproof, and the remote is water resistant. Both the collar and remote are rechargeable.

As I mentioned, this system is a bit pricier than other similar products, but it's also of much higher quality. I've been using this collar with my Labrador for months, and it's been consistent 100% of the time. I'm very impressed with the reliability of the EliteField Dog Training Collar!

It will cost you about $150 to buy this training collar, and that's only for a system with one receiver collar. You'll have to buy additional collars separately if you wish to train more than one dog at a time.
