Recipe: Easy Carob Dog Biscuits

It's true. Making homemade dog treats isn't as easy as going to the store and purchasing a few bags of your pup's favorite snacks. These carob dog biscuits are easy to make and only take about 40 minutes to create from start to finish.

These homemade dog treats are made with carob powder, a healthy substitute for cocoa powder in dog treats. Although it has a slightly different taste, carob powder is healthier than cocoa. Also unlike cocoa, carob powder is healthy for dogs.

If you're looking for a tasty and safe recipe for your pup, these carob dog treats will make a great snack for your pet.

Carob powder only contains 1/3 of the calories of traditional cocoa powder, and it is  hypoallergenic. In contrast to cocoa, carob contains no caffeine. Containing up to 80% protein, carob is a great choice for canines. It also contains:

  • calcium
  • magnesium
  • phosphorus
  • iron
  • manganese
  • potassium
  • vitamins A, B, B2, B3, and D

I like this easy dog treat recipe because it doesn't take much time to prepare, it's healthy and safe for dogs, and it adds some extra nutrients to my pack's diet.

Carob is made from the pod of a carob tree. There is a sweet pulp inside the pod that is dried, roasted and then ground into a powder. It has a nuttier flavor than cocoa that is appetizing to both dogs and people.
