Recipe: Apple Pupcake Dog Treats

Apples are an inexpensive and very healthy snack for dogs. They are low in calories, and most dogs love the taste of apples. This recipe for apple pupcake dog treats is not only healthy, they're easy to make too!

When serving apples to your dog, it's important to remember to core them. Apple seeds contain cyanide, so your dog should not be allowed to eat them. A few would likely not hurt him, but over time apple seeds could poison your dog.

Apples are a great source of Vitamin A and C. They also contain a lot of dietary fiber, which is crucial for good digestion. They're low in protein, but contain antioxidants that are used by the body to stop cellular damage caused by free radicals.

So, we've established that apples are a safe and healthy treat. Will your dog eat apple slices? Probably not, but I bet he'll love these apple pupcake dog treats!

Apple Pupcake Dog Treat RecipeLightly grease a mini muffin pan and pour in the batter. You could also use a cupcake pan or bake the batter in a well-greased cake pan and then cut the finished “cake” into bite size pieces for your pooch.

Bake the pupcakes in your 350° oven for 60-75 minutes. If you use a mini muffin pan, it will be about 60 minutes, and if you use a cupcake pan it will take about 75 minutes. It may take a bit longer if you use a cake pan, but that will take about 75 minutes as well.

Once the treats are cool, you can feed them to your pup. Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 7-10. You can also freeze the treats for up to 3 months if you'd like to store them longer.
