Review: ValueBull Dog Chews – Collagen Sticks & Yak Chews

The push for healthier pet food has been gaining momentum over the last few years. Dog owners want top quality food, treats and chews for their pets with no artificial ingredients or useless fillers. ValueBull Dog Chews are made with all-natural, limited ingredients to meet this demand.

Many commercial dog treats are made with artificial ingredients and fillers that do not provide any nutritional value to your pet. While they may make your dog happy, that's the only benefit that they offer.

As caring pet owners, we want to feed our pets snacks that will benefit their overall health and well-being. Serving treats that offer a high-quality source of protein plus the vitamins and minerals that their bodies need will make your pup happy and provide nutritional benefits.

Chews and treats like these options from ValueBull are very high in protein and offer additional nutrition along with satisfying your dog's need to chew. Keep in mind that if your dog is on a low protein diet you'll want to try a non-edible dog chew option.

Collagen sticks

These are rawhide free, all-natural collagen sticks that are fully digestible. These dog chews are made from the inner layer of cow skin, called the corium, which contains a lot of collagen.

They are 6” long. Made of 100% beef, these single ingredient dog treats are naturally grain free and packed with nutrients. There are no added hormones, additives or chemicals used when making the collagen sticks.

Did you know that the action of chewing is good for your pet's dental health? It scrapes the plaque and tartar buildup from his teeth.

About 70 to 90 percent of the tendons, ligaments, and muscles of a dog are made up of collagen. That means that these chews will benefit joint health and also help with joint pain caused by arthritis or age-related issues.

Collagen also helps in the process of breaking down proteins and soothes the lining of the stomach. Collagen can help to seal the protective lining of the gastrointestinal tract by forming connective tissues.

You often hear of this supplement being used in skin care and anti-aging products for humans. That’s because collagen makes up the dermis layer of the skin, so these chews can help restore moisture and promote skin health.

Collagen has also been shown to promote glossy fur, soft skin and strong nails. It helps to foster hair growth and skin elasticity.

You can purchase these ValueBull dog chews on Amazon in a variety of pack sizes. You can get a 10-pack for $14.99, a 100-pack for $69.99 or a 1000-pack for $499.99.

Collagen Sticks and Yak Chews

Yak chews

The only ingredients in these chews are yak milk, cow milk, lime juice and salt. Unlike other natural chews (like the collagen sticks above), yak chews have little to no odor. I noticed a very light smokey scent, but it's nothing compared to the smell of collagen or bully sticks.

These chews are also naturally grain-free, fully digestible and packed with protein and calcium. As you will see in my video review above, these chews are unbelievably durable.

Our Labrador, Saddie, can chomp on these chews for many hours without breaking them. It takes our smaller dogs, Molly and Joey, days to eat one of these chews entirely. I was very skeptical about their durability, but was pleasantly surprised to find out how durable they actually are and how long they last with our pups.

I would recommend these chews to any pet owner with a dog that likes to chew. They are available in 4 sizes to suit all dogs from puppies and small breeds to the largest dog sizes:

  • Small – 2-3.5” long (10-15 in 2 pounds)
  • Medium – 3.5-5.5” long (5-8 in 2 pounds)
  • Large – 5-6” long (3-5 in 2 pounds)
  • X-Large – 6-7” long (3-4 in 2 pounds)

Yak milk chews are all-natural, which is a huge benefit for me. Many dog chews, like rawhides, are coated with an artificial flavoring that is made with chemicals and dyes. While the main ingredient in these types of chews might be all-natural, the flavorings and preservatives are often artificial and dangerous to your dog.

These ValueBull dog chews are beneficial for dental health as well. They help to scrape plaque and tartar from your dog’s teeth while he chews. They are also ideal for teething puppies.

Unfortunately, these aren't the cheapest dog chews on the market. Similar to the collagen sticks above, you can purchase them on Amazon in a variety of pack sizes. They come in 2-pound packs for $55.99, 4 pounds for $103.99 or 6 pounds for $143.99.

While they may not be affordable on every budget, these chews are a good value for the price compared to other similar products. Products made of high quality ingredients are expected to cost more, and, unfortunately, these chews are no exception.
