Do you like the combination of cheese and bacon? It's a popular combination for humans, and I'm sure your pup will also enjoy this flavor. These bacon and cheese dog biscuits are healthy and very easy to make. Our dogs love them, and I'm sure yours will too!
Who doesn't like bacon? You may be worried that it's too fatty to feed to your pet. While adding bacon to your pup's diet on a regular basis isn't healthy, a small amount here and there is perfectly safe.
I like making my dogs homemade treats because I can be sure that they are prepared properly with safe, healthy ingredients. While some recipes take a lot of prep work or require special baking tools, this one is very simple. And, what dog doesn't like the flavor of bacon?
Recipe: Cheesy Bacon Dog Biscuits
My favorite thing about making my own dog treats is that I can choose how healthy the ingredients are. I substitute whole wheat flour when possible and buy as many natural, fresh, organic ingredients as I can.
You can also add supplements to your homemade dog treats, like glucosamine and chondroitin. In biscuits like these, I like to add a couple of tablespoons of fish oil. It's great for skin and coat health.

- Method: Baked
- Cuisine: Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 2.5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup chicken or beef stock
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 cup bacon (chopped)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350˚F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, beef stock, egg, cream cheese and bacon. Mix and work the recipe until it forms a thick dough.
As you'll see in my video guide above, I make small patties with the dough and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. You could also roll the dough onto a floured surface until it's about 1/4″ thick. Cut the dough into small pieces with cookie cutters or a pizza cutter, and bake the treats on a well greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
You could also roll the dough into 1″ balls and flatten them on the cookie sheet to make a simple, round biscuit. No matter what shape you make them, bake the biscuits for about 20-30 minutes. You'll know they are done when the tops are cracked and the bottoms turn a golden brown color.

How to store: Store leftover treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 12-14 days. Remember that homemade treats do not have the preservatives that store-bought products do. They will not last as long. If you'd like, you can freeze these treats in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
