Recipe: Breaded Salmon Dinner for Dogs

Salmon is a very beneficial protein source for dogs that is packed with necessary nutrients. It's also a great protein source for pets that have digestive sensitivities to traditional sources like beef and chicken. This salmon dinner for dogs is an easy recipe that uses limited ingredients to give your pup the nutrition he needs.

Have you ever heard the saying “fish is brain food”? That's because this superfood is filled with omega-3 fatty acids, including docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which aids in brain development and function. The omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon also aid in skin and coat health, support the immune system and help to reduce inflammation.

This recipe requires only 6 ingredients. It's simple to prepare and can be frozen for use when you don't have time to cook for your pet. Salmon also has a much stronger and more appealing smell than chicken or beef, which may prompt picky eaters or pups with no appetite to eat their food.

Salmon is a very nutritious food for dogs. However, if salmon isn't available in your area, you can substitute other healthy fish. Herring, Tuna, Cod and Flounder are all safe fish choices for dogs. These fish are usually less likely to have high mercury levels or parasites.

How much to feed: I recommend feeding about 1/2 cup of food for every 20 pounds of body weight. This recommendation is for 2 servings per day. This is just a guideline. Lazier pets and senior dogs may not need as many. It is extremely important to consult your veterinarian about the best serving size for your dog.

How to store: You can store the leftover salmon dinner for dogs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or freeze them and it’ll keep for up to 3 months. Keep in mind that this recipe includes no preservatives, so it won't last nearly as long as commercial dog food.
