Sure, you can purchase commercial dog ice cream products (like Puppy Scoops or Puppy Cake), but making your own homemade frozen dog treats is healthier and it's also easy.
This simple dog ice cream recipe uses mixed berries, but you can easily substitute any dog-friendly ingredients that you'd like. If other fruits or vegetables are in season, or your pet loves something more, feel free to use them instead.

Frozen DIY dog treats allow you to select your own ingredients, so you can choose things that you know your dog loves and aren't toxic to your pup. You can also choose fresh, whole food ingredients that are safer and healthier than the artificial ingredients in commercial products, and make substitutions.

This is a very simple dog ice cream recipe. I used frozen berries, but you can definitely use fresh berries if you would prefer. The mix I use has blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries.

Ingredients
- 1 cup mixed berries
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
To make this easy dog ice cream, just add the water and berries to a food processor. You can add more water if needed. Once it is pureed, just pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze until firm.
If you're going to feed this ice cream for dogs regularly, you can substitute other dog-friendly fruits and veggies. Some of my favorite substitutions include:
- pumpkin
- cranberries
- apples
- bananas
- kale
- spinach
