Now, more than ever, dog owners are treating their canine companions as if they were their human children. We're always taking photos and videos of every adorable thing they do and sharing it on social media. Hot Paws from the Hot Sand Glass Studio on the Jersey Shore offers a unique way to turn your pup's paw print into a treasured piece of art.
Photos and videos are great ways to capture all the precious moments of your dog's life. But, if you want something a little bit more creative that will last a lifetime, memorializing your dog with a print of his paw in glass is about as unique as it gets!
I was interested in trying the Hot Paws kit, but there are mixed reviews on social media. Most pet owners love the product, but some say that it was more difficult than they expected to make the mold. That's why I had to try it out for myself – to see whether or not this DIY kit was worth the work.

Hot Paws Personal Dog Paw Glass Art Kit Review
This do-it-yourself kit allows you to make a one-of-a-kind glass impression of your dog's paw print. If you're anything like me, just the thought of this unique glass ornament will make you giddy with excitement.
We've made ink impressions of our dogs' paws and tried to press paws in clay in the past. The ink version is very messy, and it's difficult to get a crystal clear print with no smudging. Using clay has worked out well for us in the past, but the clay becomes brittle and cracks over time.
As you can see in my video review above, it's not difficult at all to make an impression of your dog's paw print.
Contrary to many other reviews that I looked at on the internet, I didn't find it difficult at all to make the initial impression. The Hot Paws kit comes with a small ball of clay-like material and easy-to-follow instructions.
You simply roll the clay-like substance into a ball, squish the ball flat and then press your dog's paw into it to make an impression. No worries if you mess up, as you will see that I did in my video review, because you can just roll the clay-like material back into a ball and start over.
The ingredients used to make the clay-like substance are non-toxic, gluten-free and vegan. It's safe for any small animals, so you could use it with cats, bunnies or any other small pet you may have.
I was worried that hair or dirt stuck to the impression would mess up my glass ornament. However, I was reassured by the company's website that this wouldn't make a difference. With children, 2 dogs and 4 cats, it's nearly impossible to use anything in our house without it getting dirt or hair on it.
And, as you can see in the photo above and the one to the right, my impression came out PERFECT! The dirt and hair didn't have any effect on the final product. When I opened the package, the glass ornament brought tears to my eyes!
While I absolutely love the Hot Paws kit, it is pretty pricey. One kit costs $77, which includes the shipping cost to you, the shipping cost to send the impression back to the studio and the shipping cost to send the glass ornament back to you.
There are options to buy the kits in bulk and the option to get to glass prints made from the same impression. The Hot Paws kit would be a fantastic gift idea for any dog owner, but it certainly isn't affordable on any budget.
