Every dog needs a bed, whether it's big or small. Even if your dog sleeps in your bed at night, she still needs a bed of her own to rest in during the day.
If your dog likes to nest or sleep with her head propped up on a pillow, a bolster bed would be a good option for her.
The FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed for Dogs features a bolster, memory foam, and a soft, comfy cover.
If you notice that your dog tries to find a place to sleep where she can rest her head on a pillow or armrest, you should look into buying her a bolster bed.
A bolster bed is also a good choice for dogs that like to stretch out. The bolster gives them something to press up against and prevents them from falling off of their bed.
There are many different types of beds to choose from, and you need to consider your dog's needs when making your choice.
I'm sure you want a mattress that will blend in with your home's decor, but the most aesthetically pleasing bed may not be the most comfortable.
When your dog has her bed, it gives her a place in your home that is all hers.
She doesn't need to share this space with anyone else in your family (furry or non-furry).
Even if your dog doesn't like to be by herself very often, when she does, she needs a comfortable, warm and safe place to rest.
If you're looking for a bolster dog bed and you're on a tight budget, the FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed should be on your list of possibilities.
It's available in sizes for small, medium, and large breeds, and it's made with quality materials. But, how does it compare to other dog beds? Keep reading to find out.

FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed Review
As you'll see in the first few seconds of my video review above, our dogs love this bed.
Both of our girls love resting their heads on a pillow while sleeping, so I knew a bolster bed would be a good choice for them. In my review, you can see our Beagle, Molly, curl up in the corner of the bed and lean against the bolster.
The bolster is filled with high loft polyester filling that is made from recycled water bottles.
The stuffing is enclosed in a cloth casing, so it's easy to take out when you need to wash the cover. If that description doesn't make much sense, you can see what I'm talking about in my video review as well.
One of the things that you should be looking for when you're shopping for a dog bed is a removable, washable cover.
This is especially important if your dog has accidents. But, you'll also be happy you made this choice when it's time to clean the dog hair, drool, or other dirt off of the bed.
Thankfully, the FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed does have a removable cover that is machine washable.
I've washed it according to the instructions six times, and the body is still holding up very well.
Some dog bed covers begin to fray after a few items of washing, and I'm glad that wasn't the case with this one.
The base of this bed from FurHaven is made of a double layer of foam. The top is about 2″ of memory foam, and the bottom layer is approximately 2″ of medical-grade base foam.
This combination is designed to support your dog (no matter how big he is) to prevent pressure on his bones and joints.
While the foam is of good quality, it's not the best available. Other beds on the market are made with 6-8 inches of orthopedic memory foam.
Some even have a cooling gel foam layer. But, with this high-quality material also comes a much higher price tag.
These beds sell for hundreds of dollars, and the FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed costs much less than that. (I'll mention prices at the end of this article).

In the photo above, you can see the faux fur sleep surface of this bed. Our dogs LOVE how soft it is.
Molly enjoys rubbing all over it before she settles in. And, as you can see above, Saddie likes to sprawl out on the soft bed.
The bed's cover is not just soft on the top. It's also water-resistant on the bottom. That means that if your dog does happen to have an accident in her sleep, it won't soak through onto your flooring.
Just keep in mind that the foam is not machine washable, so you'll have to hand wash it outside or in your bathtub if your puppy pees on it.
The FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed for Dogs is available in 4 sizes:
- Small – 20″L x 15″W x 6″H (sleep surface is 15″L x 12″W)
- Medium – 30″L x 20″W x 7″H (sleep surface is 26″L x 17″W)
- Large – 36″L x 27″W x 8″H (sleep surface is 29″L x 23″W)
- Jumbo – 44″L x 35″W x 10″H (sleep surface is 40″L x 31″W)
The bed featured in my review is a ‘Jumbo' size. Another thing to mention is the height measurements listed above include the bolster.
So, the sleep surface is 2-3 inches shorter than the height above.
There are 17 different colors and patterns to choose from.
The one in my review is called ‘Diamond Brown.' As you can see, it blends in nicely with our home's neutral decor.
I have already explained that this bed is made with suitable materials, but not the best quality. In my opinion, this bed is durable and is sure to last at least a couple of years.
The foam is holding its shape nicely so far, and we've had the bed for about three months. Likewise, our dogs tend to scratch and nest before lying down, but the cover shows no signs of wear yet.
Beds made with higher quality foam are guaranteed up to 10 years, but they also sell for hundreds of dollars.
Thankfully, the FurHaven Memory Top Couch Bed is much more affordable. Depending on the size and color that you choose, these beds are currently selling on Amazon for $46.99.
Save and help an animal shelter!
One more important thing that I wanted to share is that FurHaven has just launched a new program called Tails of Joy, which boils down to the fact that all pet beds are 40% off with the code JOY40.
Plus, the company will donate a bed to an animal shelter! So far, they have over 150 pet beds to donate, and their goal is to donate over 100,000 beds to animals in need!
