A new pet app is now available for dog owners in Los Angeles. Zingy, which calls itself the “Uber for dog-walking” has taken off, and it’s no wonder considering there is an app for almost everything these days.
Over 300 dog walkers have joined the service since it began just over a month ago. Although it is only up and running in Los Angeles right now, the company is hoping to expand nationwide very soon.
So what is Zingy?
The app is free to download on both iOS and Android devices. Once the app is downloaded, pet owners create an account for their dog that includes information like the dog’s gender, age, and name. Then they can select the length of walk that they would like and also include any special instructions about water, food, medications, etc…

Zingy does not allow off-leash walks or pack walking, and as for the dog walkers themselves, they must pass a six-point background check and an in-person interview to become eligible. Walkers also have to be trained and become Zingy certified before they are able to be listed in the app’s database.
According to the company, they only hire 25-30 percent of the applicants that apply. They say it takes about 20 seconds for users to book a dog walk from their Smartphone or other compatible device. The app also lets dog owners track where their dog is being walked and walkers are required to post an instant care note and a photo after each walk.
Zingy offers comprehensive insurance to all of their customers in the event that anything happens to their dog while it is out for a walk. Another nice feature is that Zingy sets the rates for walks, so users of the app will know exactly how much they will be charged before they are required to book anything.

Pricing is always visible and current in the app before the appointment is set. Late night walks, early morning walks, and additional services like feeding and multi-dog walks do cost more, but the prices for those additions are always visible as well.
Users have the option of rating and reviewing their dog walks, and Zingy monitors the feedback closely. Their goal is to provide the highest quality of experience possible for dog owners and their canine companions.
The company holds all walkers to a strict 3-strike policy, meaning that if any walker receives a 3-star rating or less on more than three occasions they are completely removed from the database.
