Open University Creating New Technology to Help Dogs Support Humans

Working dogs are used in many different professions, but the most common are service dogs that help people with any number of physical and mental disabilities. The animal-computer interaction program at The Open University is always looking for new technologies to make working dogs’ jobs a little easier.

As you can see in this video they are prototyping all kinds of new technologies from dog-friendly light switches to alarm systems that are easier for canines to operate. The dog technology that they are creating will be used to help service dogs around the world.

Clara-Mancini, the head of the Animal-Computer Interaction Lab at the university knows that there is much more research to be done, but they’ve already made some huge strides in the dog technology field.
