Review: PooVault Dog Poop Vault

Take a moment to think about the next time you'll be walking your canine companion. I bet you're looking forward to it, but I doubt you're looking forward to picking up after your pet while out on your adventure. Using the PooVault dog poop vault will make this disgusting task a little bit easier to deal with.

This device has such a simple concept, but it's extremely effective. Is it a necessity that every dog owner must have, no. But, it's definitely one of those inexpensive items that makes life as a pet owner just a little bit easier.

If you think that you can get away without cleaning up after your dog, think again!

Not only is it irresponsible and disrespectful to other people who use the area, dog poop has been linked to the spread of numerous diseases. I know what you're going to say next – “My dog is healthy. He doesn't have any parasites or diseases to spread.”

That may be true, but the bacteria from your dog's feces could eventually leech into sources of clean drinking water in the area. YUCK! Not to mention, studies have shown that bacteria in dog poop can even pollute the air in your city!

Now, I'll get off my poop scooping soap box and get back to this review. The PooVault was designed by a pet owner that was sick and tired of lugging around full bags of dog feces until he could find a receptacle. I didn't know whether or not this product would be worth reviewing at first, but it's now a must-pack item on my hiking list! Let me tell you why…

PooVault Dog Poop Vault Review

PooVault Dog Poop Vault ReviewAs the name suggests, this is a small vault to put your pet's poop in. Simply pick up the waste as you normally would, and then twist the bag (do not tie) and place it inside the PooVault dog poop vault.

As you'll see in my video review above, the lid snaps tightly closed to seal all of the stinky odor inside. Viola! You don't have to carry a nasty bag full of poo, and you don't have to smell it for the remainder of your walk.

I don't use the PooVault dog poop vault on all of our regular walks, but as I mentioned it has becoming a necessity while hiking with my dogs. We hike with our girls often, and there is nothing worse than having to carry a full poop bag for miles until we get back to a trash can.

THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

We have tried everything to carry the poop discreetly and easily, but nothing works. If I put it in my pack, it makes everything smell disgusting! Not to mention, I'm always worried that I'm going to squish the bag and it will break open.

Before the PooVault, I would tie the filled dog waste bags to the outside of my pack. I didn't have to carry it or smell it, but I've had many hikers give me strange looks over the years.

The PooVault dog poop vault takes care of this problem. I place the bag inside the vault, lock it, place it in my pack and I don't even have to think about it again until we get back home.

This product is also made of recyclable material, which is something that is important to me as a consumer. It's also made in the USA, which is another characteristic that look for in the products that I buy for my family (including the four-legged members).

It's equipped with carabiner clip to attach to your hiking pack or leash. There is also a small slide clip on the back of the PooVault, which you can see in the photo on the left, that allows it to attach to the pocket of your pants, a backpack or training waistband.

One thing I also want to mention is the strength that it takes to snap this vault open and closed. It needs to snap tightly in order to keep the odor contained. However, if you have arthritis or don't have a lot of strength in your hands, you may have a hard time using the PooVault.

So, do you need it? No. But is it convenient? Absolutely! And, the price is reasonable. You can purchase the PooVault dog poop vault on Amazon for just $17.99. If you're sick of hanging on to full poop bags of dog waste, I would definitely recommend this product.
