Dog gates can serve many purposes. While some pet owners use them to contain rambunctious puppies, others simply use them to keep their well-behaved dogs contained while mopping floors or preparing for a dinner party.
When you're choosing the right dog gate to contain your pooch, it's important to think about the ways in which you'll be using it. Will you be leaving it in one place or moving it around your home? Do you think your pet will try to escape, or will he happily stay in his designated area? Do you want to take the gate with you while traveling?
I've reviewed a few different types of pet gates in the past, including:

I wanted to review the Primetime Petz 360° Configurable Dog Gate because it isn't a traditional pet gate. This gate isn't going to contain every dog, but it still has many practical uses. As you can see, it's also more aesthetically pleasing than most other dog gates and very unique in its design.

Primetime Petz 360 Configurable Dog Gate Review
I was instantly attracted to this gate thanks to its 100% beautiful wood design. Most pet gates stick out like a sore thumb, but what are you going to do? You need to keep your pet contained, and a gate is the best option.
Not with this one!
The Primetime Petz 360° Configurable Dog Gate will look great with any home's decor. It's elegant yet neutral. The walnut finish will match any style of flooring and blend in with any wall design, from paint to wallpaper.
While I love the appearance of this gate, it's not the most practical dog gate available. As you'll see in my video review above, it's a free-standing gate. This means that it simply stands on its own without being attached to your walls or doorway.
They call it a 360° configurable gate for a good reason, too. There are three panels that are each separated by double hinges. The hinges allow each panel to move forward or backward, which enables you to configure this gate into virtually any shape.
You can also purchase additional extension kits for this gate that allow you to block off a larger area or create a playpen for your pooch.
If you've got an awkward opening that you need to block off, this gate will most likely be able to get the job done. As you can see in my photos, it's also ideal for extra-wide openings like the one in our home. At just under 86 inches long, it can span virtually any entryway.

In the photo above, you can see that the middle section of this dog gate features a 24-inch door that opens both inwardly and outwardly. The door locks securely with a spring-loaded bolt. This prevents your pet from being able to jump on the gate and open it himself.
Because the gate is free-standing, I was worried that it might move around and scratch our laminate flooring. Thankfully, there are rubber feet on the bottom of the gate, which prevent scratching.
This gate isn't perfect
Now that I've told you all the advantages of the Primetime Petz 360° Configurable Dog Gate let's talk about the obvious drawbacks.
First, you'll notice in my video review that this gate is very short. It stands just 24 inches tall, which means most dogs could easily hop over it if they wanted to. Because it's a free-standing gate, your dog could also knock it over easily if he really wanted to escape.
In layman's terms, this dog gate isn't going to contain just any pup. In order to benefit from this gate, your dog needs to be trained to stay in a confined area. Rambunctious puppies or dogs with separation issues aren't going to be kept contained by this Primetime Petz gate.
If your dog really wanted to get past this gate, he could easily do so. Not to mention, the wood construction means that a dog who loves to chew would destroy this gate quickly. It's really only suitable for dogs that do not mind being contained.
This gate from Primetime Petz is also more expensive than a traditional dog gate. You can purchase it on Amazon for $90. You can pick up a traditional dog gate that is sturdier and much taller for about half of that price. However, it won't look nearly as nice as this option.
