Our dogs are very well behaved when they are left home alone, but what are they doing? Personally, I just assume they sleep most of the day and wait for us to come home. But then I wonder why they are still tired when I get home. What are they up to all day?
For $100, you can find out. The Motorola Scout66 is a high definition Wi-Fi video camera that you can use to keep an eye on your pet from any compatible smartphone, computer, or tablet. That’s right; it is essentially a surveillance system for your pets. It is a cloud-based camera that will turn any compatible device into a fully functional pet video monitoring system.

You can access and control the camera remotely from the free and secure app, called Hubble. Your smartphone, computer or tablet will receive motion, sound, and room temperature notifications to ensure that your dog is always comfortable and safe. The SCOUT66 system allows pet owners to view, speak to, and listen to their pets whenever they are away from home.
You can even add Hubble’s optional Cloud Video Recording (CVR) service to capture your dog’s fun-filled day on video as it unfolds in your home. The video will be stored securely in the cloud, which you can access at any time. You can even share these videos with your family and friends or upload them to social media. The SCOUT66 features a 60° viewing angle and 720p video streaming. It is also equipped with infrared night vision, which helps you see what is going on in the room, even in very low light levels.
If you really wanted to enhance your surveillance abilities, you could hook up to 10 cameras to one Hubble account. You can also pair the Scout66 system with any other camera that is compatible with the Hubble app. You could have cameras all over your home so you knew what was going on every second.
I suppose you could even use the system as a security measure for intruders if you wanted to. You could monitor your pet during the day while you were at work, but the surveillance feature and recording capabilities would come in handy if you were traveling out of town.
The Scout66 device does require a wireless internet connection and the Hubble app of course. The app is available for free on iOS and Android devices. One of the things that I don’t care for about this device is that it requires you to pay a fee in order to record and store videos on the cloud.

Many canine GPS trackers and activity monitoring devices also require extra fees, and I think that’s a little deceiving to consumers. We already pay a lot of money for the device, and then we have to pay more money each month just to use it? I try to avoid these types of products, but you can still use the Scout66 device to check on your pet in real time without paying any additional fees to record.
This would be a great tool to use if your dog gets into trouble while you’re away or for a dog that has separation anxiety. You could check in on your pet and talk to him throughout the day, which would hopefully help soothe a dog with anxiety and may prevent a naughty dog from getting into too much trouble. It’s certainly an interesting concept.
