Have you ever thought of making your own cat treats? Homemade cat treat recipes are a great way to reward your pet without having to worry about dangerous ingredients, contamination or tainted meat sources.
Hundreds of pet food products are recalled every year. Many of these recalls are due to toxic ingredients or contamination issues. By making homemade cat treat recipes, you don't have to worry about these issues.
It takes a little more time to prepare homemade treats and a bit of research, but once you figure out what ingredients work best for your cat, you'll be able to provide her with tasty, healthy snacks that will only cost a few dollars per batch.
Homemade Cat Treat Recipe with Turkey Recipe
Choosing the best ingredients is obviously the most important part of learning how to make homemade treats for your pet. You should buy the best ingredients that you can afford.
The higher the quality of ingredients, the healthier the treats will be for your cat. I use whole wheat flour in this recipe, but you could substitute any type of flour that is best suited for your cat.
You should also purchase organic ingredients whenever possible. I use organic turkey, an organic egg and organic olive oil when making this homemade cat treat recipe.

The only way that you can be sure you know the exact ingredients in your pet's treats is by making them yourself. Doing so allows you to cater the treats to your pet's needs.
If you need low protein treats, low fat treats or just healthy homemade treats for cats, you can customize your recipes to meet these needs.
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
- Yield: about 72 treats 1x
- Category: Baked Treats
- Method: Oven
- Cuisine: Cat Treats
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup turkey
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350˚ F.
In my video guide, I used leftover turkey from a meal that I made the night before for my human family members. You could use fresh turkey or ground turkey.
Cook the turkey anyway that you'd like. If you use fresh turkey, you'll need to mince it in a food processor.
In a mixing bowl, combine the turkey, flour, egg and oil to create a meaty dough. Roll the dough out on a floured surface until it is about 1/4″ thick.
Transfer the dough onto a large piece of parchment paper. Place the parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Use a knife or pizza cutter to score the dough into small triangles.
Bake the treats in your 350˚ oven for about 20 mins. Once the treats have cooled, you'll be able to break the triangles apart.

How to store: Store the leftover treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Remember that homemade treats do not have the preservatives that store-bought products do.
They will not last as long as commercial treats. If you'd like, you can freeze these treats in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
