Dog bathing is one of the trickiest aspects of grooming. Grooming anxiety is a real issue, and some dogs are better at taking a bath than others.
Installing and using a dog bath at home, whether a professional or a portable one, can make the process easier.
Pet grooming tubs for dogs are equipped specifically to bathe dogs more efficiently and effectively.
They provide the area, tools, and features needed to keep the dog in place and stay calm while reducing the amount of mess resulting from the process. For owners of large dogs, they reduce the physical strain.
For example, some dog grooming tubs will have an electrical lift:
It's completely fine to be bathing a dog in your own bathtub. As long as you wash the tub before and after, and your pooch is comfortable in there, you'll be okay.
The only reason to buy a dog bath for your home is if you're having trouble with bathing your pooch.
However, while a dog bath may be convenient, you should only consider it if you do, in fact, bathe your dog yourself and often.
Similarly to grooming tables, pet baths are often a very expensive piece of equipment and will only pay off in the long term. Below are some of the best dog baths that we liked the most.
The Best Dog Baths for Easier Grooming
1Poly Pro Lift Grooming Tub
by Master Equipment
This dog tub is great for heavy-duty grooming. Master Equipment Poly Pro Lift Tub measures 59 x 35.5 x 31.5 inches and weighs a little less than 300 pounds.
It contains an electric lift, which makes it optimal for lifting large, heavy dogs (up to 220 lbs). It’s made of polypropylene, a material that is durable and easy to clean.
The sheer size of the grooming tub indicates its sturdiness and dependability, but it's also very expensive.
- Engineered specifically to...
- Foot-operated electric lift...
- Lightweight, yet just as...
- Removable door lifts straight...
- Includes four shampoo bottle...
The Poly Pro Tub is our first pick among the best dog baths due to its sheer size and sturdiness.
The polypropylene material was very easy to maintain and clean, and as groomers, we know how important that is. The tub’s high dimensions prevent even the largest dog from easily being able to catapult themselves out of the tub and run amuck.
Due to its cost, this is mostly recommended for groomers who work at home or salon and are serious about pet grooming.
Consider this more of an investment than something you buy for convenience only. Myself aside, other professional groomers and boarders alike commented on their satisfaction with this tub’s quality and durability.
The electric lift is our favorite part of this dog bath, and it works for large and small dogs. If your pooch finds themselves afraid of the lift (some dogs that aren’t used to them can get nervous around the equipment), you'll have to coax them onto the lift with treats and toys, the same way you train dogs to use stairs.
The drawback is that not only is this dog tub expensive, but it does require adequate space to house it. Be prepared to house this in the garage or basement.
The alternative, of course, is taking your dog to the groomer’s, and that adds up after a while.
If you’re not a groomer but are serious about grooming your pet, this may be a worthwhile purchase, but other cheap dog baths are still available.
238″ Stainless Steel Pet Bathing Tub
by Flying Pig Grooming
This oddly named pet bathtub is elevated and measures 38 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 38 inches tall (approximately 3 ft. by 2 ft. by 3 ft.).
The construction of Flying Pig Pet Grooming Bath Tub is solid, rust-proof 16-gauge stainless steel and contains a backsplash and sidesplash that are both removable if need be.
While it's three times cheaper than the Master Equipment dog bath, its price tag is still pretty hefty.
- Built with Rust Resistant 304...
- Dimensions: 38"L x 26"W x 38"...
- Drain: Right Drain works with...
- Come with: Faucet w/ hose,...
- Backsplash and sidesplashes...
The dog bath came with a bunch of features: a faucet hose, sprayer hose, shampoo rack, a green rubber mat to reduce the chance of slipping, and restraints to keep your dog in place.
There is also a drain in the center that is adaptable to any plumbing configuration, and the legs are adjustable to the height you want.
We placed the Flying Pig Pet brand as the second-best dog bath on the list, not because it’s of a lesser quality than the first but because it doesn’t come with the useful feature of an electric lift, which makes all the difference between the two.
While the Flying Pig Pet dog bath is adjustable manually, an electric lift is likely more convenient for owners who are in need of a little back support or who have big dogs.
The dimensions of this are smaller, so owners with large breed dogs might find that their pup doesn’t fit as well. The construction of this is versatile, as it contains removable backsplashes and side splashes that prevent water from getting everywhere while also making it convenient for you to use.
The sprayer was quite powerful, and the central drain was very easy to use with basically any type of plumbing system.
It sits high off the ground as well, so if you’re taller, this tub will actually fit you. The green floor mat also adds a lot in the way of sturdiness; your pet won’t risk falling and injuring themselves.
That said, it does have its downsides. For one, the tub is sized only to fit small to medium dogs, and owners or groomers who wish to bathe large dogs are going to have issues.
Also, the table is still expensive. Finally, we've also noticed an issue concerning the bolts, which appeared to be loose.
3Elevated Doggy Bath
by Booster Bath
This pet bath is portable, lightweight, and cheap – a major difference compared to the first two above.
Booster Bath Elevated Dog Bath comes together in two pieces and snaps easily for simple and quick construction.
Its dimensions are 16 inches wide by 33 inches long (by 10 inches deep), and it weighs around 22 pounds.
- Dimensions 50" x 21.25" x 15"
- 19 inch leg height, 25 inch U...
- Leg Foot Print - 26" x 47"
- 175lbs max weight capacity
- Quick-snap legs
The booster dog bath contains a drainage hose and a faucet that hooks up to any exterior plumbing areas.
The drain hose is long and works with different plumbing situations. It's our third pick among the best dog baths because even if it's of high quality, it’s of a lesser caliber than the other two above.
The tub is made of plastic and not stainless steel, which may not be good for durability, but it makes the bath more portable, lightweight, and easy to use.
It also snaps together and is convenient for homes with space constraints, mobile grooming, and salons too.
Despite being made from plastic, it felt very sturdy. Even after bathing multiple dogs back to back, it held up well through each session and wasn’t intimidating for our dogs.
It can hold small and medium dogs up to 100 pounds in weight.
The instructions that came with this tub, however, were unclear and similar to those of IKEA furniture.
After reading other dog bath reviews, we've noticed that the same issues were echoed by several other pet owners who found instructions to be vague and confusing.

Pet Any Way LLC Master Equipment Everyday Pro Tub
by Master Equipment
Master Equipment Everyday Tub is made with steel that is zinc-plated, powder-coated, and 16-gauge.
The bottom of the tub is made of rust-resistant steel, and it is a good choice for home groomers who wish to invest in something for the long term but cannot afford the above two brands.
The tub measures 49.8 x 28 x 20 inches and weighs approximately 140 pounds.
- An Economical Choice –...
- Amazingly Durable – Made of...
- Convenient Features –...
- Extras Included – Each...
- Three Colors Available –...
There is a pre-drilled drainage hole and restraint bolts that work in holding a grooming loop to secure our dog, and it appears that it'd work for pets of any size.
We chose to put Master Equipment Everyday Pro Tub for Pets as fourth because it was a little slower than the others and didn’t have the electric lift that our first choice had.
The backsplash is situated high (and only on one side), but the rest of the walls of the tub are low enough that there’s a chance of splashing if your dog gets to shaking.
This pet bath is constructed of durable, easy-to-clean material that won’t rust or become sullied. So many tubs that come in contact with water, when designed with pets in mind, end up rusting at the bottom (not inside) or being affected negatively by the soaps and shampoos that are used.
The restraint hooks were very convenient because I like to run around during grooming sessions, so this helped to make grooming safer and more convenient.
Lastly, the height is low on the table, but if you’re someone who isn’t too tall, this shouldn't be an issue.
The length of the bath table makes it workable for any size dog, but the width isn’t optimal for very large dogs (Tibetan Mastiffs, for example) that might need to do a little extra squeezing in there.
The width is only a little over two feet. Also, the coordinating overhead cabin is sold separately, which we thought to be inconvenient.
5New Booster Bath Kit for Dogs
by Booster Bath
This last bath for pets from Booster has measurements that work for small breeds, although the sizes vary.
Mini Booster Bath for Dogs has a 33-inch length, 17-inch width, and ten-inch depth. The bath is elevated and 360-degree accessible, making for an easy grooming experience, and it's one of the cheapest dog baths that are still worth it.
- Dimensions 50" x 21.25" x 15"
- 19 inch leg height, 25 inch U...
- Leg Foot Print - 26" x 47"
- 175lbs max weight capacity
- Quick-snap legs
The drain hose is long enough that you can easily direct the drainage where you want it to go with no issue.
The weight capacity is 75 pounds, so this tub is useful for smaller breeds such as Cocker Spaniels, Corgis, Scottish Terriers, Schnauzers, and French Bulldogs.
It came in two pieces that we snapped together. It's good for quick portability, and there is a five-year warranty. It’s also made in the USA.
Booster dog bath is last on the list because of the size restriction. It can’t accommodate large dogs the way the other pet tubs can.
However, if you’re a groomer who works with small dogs and doesn’t do that much heavy cleaning, this tub will be a good fit and at a much more affordable price.
The main convenience of this dog bath is that it’s easy to use and simple to store. The height variability will make sure that your back is spared from any bending over.
The no-slip bottom of the tub also keeps your pup secure, and there is a handy soap holder on the side of the tub.
The hose was one of our favorite features – it is long enough to allow us to direct drainage wherever we needed it. This keeps a groomer dry during bath time and reduces the mess.
In terms of disadvantages, its size is the main con, so you won't get the versatility when it comes to what dogs can and cannot be bathed.
We also want to note that this is not for professional use because – while it's okay for occasional home baths – it's not up to the same caliber that the professional grooming tables listed above are. It’s sturdy and stable, but it should be kept in the setting that it is appropriate for – your home.
